You can take a bus Chiang Rai-Waing Pa Pao then get off when you arrive the way to go up to the temple and walk up to the temple which is very far.
 It will  be better to take our own cars.🚙

What is the meaning of " Sang Kaew    Po Ti Yan" ?

There is a story where this name come from. 
Once upon a time during the rainstorm, there is a monk who got lost around the mountain. He walked for a while then he saw a light, so he continued walking to see what the light was from. Finally, he met a man was holding  flashlight, then they started  a conversation.

Monk : where are you going sir?
The guy : There is a flood down there, I'm going up to the hill. Do you want to come with me?
Monk : Go ahead. I'm going to have a look down there first.

The monk did not believe, so he decided to find out himself. He continued walking, then he met a group of people  in the rain holding flashlights. The monk asked

Monk : Where are you going?
People : I'm going up to the hill, do not walk down because there is a flood.
Monk : Go ahead, I'll follow you later.

While he was walking up to the hill he did not see any trees but he saw the mountain and the white lotus which is in fully bloom and it's very bright so, he could  see his lines on the palm of the hand. It's amazing.!
The next day he discussed about what happened with the other monk and they named this temple " Wat Sang Kaew Po Ti Yan"

Sang kaew means "bright"
Po Ti Yan means "Discerning "
Combining these words we'll have the white lotus bloom and bright.

This temple was built to be a spiritual anchor for the people. In addition to this purpose, it is one of the most beautiful tourist attractions in Chiang Rai.

What is interesting in here?
1.)The temple is Lanna Arts.

2.) The sculpture of the god and giant carrying a  big bell. 

3.) Wihanluang Line kam.

4.)Sri Wichai sculpture was casted by  metal and covered with gold.

5.) The imitation of the earth and universe.
